Problem

Sprint was in a downward spiral, losing thousands of subscribers per quarter. Its financial position would require the company to enter Chapter 11 within less than 1 year.

Solution

Worked in the Ericsson team, leading the Financial work stream, to present a proposal for Ericsson to assume full responsibility of Sprint;s day-to-day operations and maintenance of the CDMA, iDEN and wireline networks. Led the engagement through all the steps from feasibility study, LOI, proposal, presentations negotiations and contract development.

Result

In 2009, Sprint Nextel signed a 7-year managed services contract with Ericsson with about $5B and transferred about 6,000 staff to the other company.
